...New NEAR TERM...
.NEAR TERM...
(Tonight)
Issued at 857 PM CST Thu Nov 14 2024
For the most part, mostly cloudy to overcast conditions prevailed
across the greater Tennessee Valley this evening. Temperatures as
we approach 9 PM have chilled into the low/mid 50s with northwest
winds of 5-10 mph. Although a cold front moved in a west to east
manner across the area earlier, a surge of moisture in the lower
altitudes (1500-5000 ft AGL) was producing the clouds. Animation
of these clouds indicated that drier air was advecting eastward
over western Tennessee. This occurring, along with the bulk of the
moisture being shifted more to our east should result in cloud
cover thinning somewhat across some of the area in the overnight.
This clearing should occur more over NW Alabama by daybreak
Friday. The clearing, along with light winds and residual moisture
from recent rainfall could lead to patchy fog development in this
area. Elsewhere if more clouds than clear skies hold, fog is not
forecast. Otherwise a cool autumn night is expected, with low
temperatures falling into the 40s. The on-going forecast was in
great shape, no big changes were made.

.SHORT TERM...
(Friday through Sunday)
Issued at 156 PM CST Thu Nov 14 2024
Dry conditions continue through the short term period as an upper
level ridge moves in from the west. Post-frontal temperatures are
forecast to be relatively cooler with highs reaching the low 60s
Friday before increasing to the low 70s through the weekend.
Overnight lows during this time are forecast to drop into the
upper 30s to mid 40s. Mostly sunny skies will persist through the
weekend as sfc high pressure resides over the southeastern US.
&&
.LONG TERM...
(Sunday through Wednesday)
Issued at 100 AM CST Thu Nov 14 2024
On Sunday, a 5h anticyclone will be centered over the east central
Gulf of Mexico with the 8h anticyclone over southeast AL. The surface
high will span the eastern CONUS and keep mild and dry weather in
place through Monday. By Tuesday, as a large trough and surface
cyclone spins over the northern Plains and upper MS valley, a cold
front will cross the MS River with a frontal band of showers. The
line will be slow to push east through the TN valley Tuesday night
into Wednesday as the cyclone occludes and retrogrades southwest
into the lower MO valley. After highs in the lower 70s Monday and
Tuesday, temperatures will dip into the 60s Wednesday. By Thursday
morning, lows will be in the middle 30s to around 40.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 448 PM CST Thu Nov 14 2024
Winds will decrease overnight however low clouds moving in from
the north will promote MVFR ceilings at both terminals for most of
the night through sunrise. Clouds will lift after sunrise with VFR
conditions prevailing for the remainder of the TAF period.
